FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

A vibrant, busy city with beautiful architecture and some lovely eating places. Lots of interest and history in a compact, walkable city centre easily accessible from nearby hotels. Not cheap to stay, but that's probably a result of its' compact nature. Plenty of places to eat and good quality dining available too. Didn't visit the theatre this visit but on previous visits have enjoyed the night out - parking is expensive too, but well placed for easy walking access into the city centre (park and ride is much cheaper of course but we opted to be in the centre for this visit).

We loved the Roman Baths, you get a free audio phone so it guides you round the Bath and Museum! Definitely the Abbey tour, it’s 212 steps but well worth it when you get to the bell and clock face- I’ve never been inside a clock before it was amazing! The square food was delicious and highly recommend! OPA underground Greek restaurant was also incredible and such a vibe and experience.

We stayed for two nights in Bath and as we had been before...

We stayed for two nights in Bath and as we had been before this was enough time for us. However, I would suggest a three night stay if you have not been before then you won’t feel like you are rushing. The best advice I could give anyone is to take the Mayor’s walking tour. This is a free, two hour tour given by volunteers and they will not accept any payment. The information given is amazing, the pace was good and the guide cares about your enjoyment and safety. The tours do not h e to be booked and take place twice a day. Meeting point outside the Pump Rooms. If you get chance to do the tour to the top of the cathedral that is also excellent. See behind the clock and the workings of the clock and bells. Amazing views is a bonus! The Roman Baths and pump rooms are also amazing and definitely worth visiting. If you want a bit of chillaxing time yet the Thermae Soa Baths. You won’t be disappointed but this does need to be booked in advance.

It was pricier than what we'd normally pay for a hotel, but having seen the reviews and photos online, we decided to book anyway. I can honestly say it was the best hotel we've every stayed at. The central location was perfect - close to Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Pump Room, Pulteney Bridge and the shops. The building itself is really quaint and situated next door to the famous Sally Lunn Tea Rooms. Our room was beautifully decorated and had ample space. The staff were very welcoming and breakfast was really good also.

The hotel is centrally located, with eateries and pubs around it as soon as you step outside the door. Kingsmead Square is a 2 minute walk and Bath Abbey, the train station are just a quick 10 minute walk from there hotel. The hotel rooms and bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. Very comfortable bed and there’s also a TV in the room. They also have a restaurant and bar inside the hotel. Breakfast is served in the morning. The staff was very helpful and friendly too. This is a lovely hotel in the centre of Bath, with beautiful spacious clean rooms. Then Penhaligons toiletries were a lovely addition. The hotel also has a beautiful garden and terrace which serves possibly the best pizza ever. Notably this hotel has the loveliest of staff, who are obviously very happy and enjoying their work. You are looked after exceptionally well. There was nothing we didn’t like about this hotel. We have family in Bath and this is where we will be staying from now on.

it was perfectly situated in the city centre, yet quiet. I had a room with a window, but didn’t feel overlooked in any way. The space is incredibly well used and perfect for a solo traveller and the shower is fantastic - especially when you factor in Bath’s water, which makes your skin feel incredible! The bed was so comfortable and I slept so, so well. The staff at the front desk are so welcoming and clearly care about you having the best stay possible, both at the hotel and in the city.

This hotel is very good, very well decorated with very professional staff. The room was a good size and had air conditioning, However one of the best things about this hotel, is the Spa Baths, they really are superb. The breakfast was first class, as was the service, very pleased. Their restaurant was closed for dinner, due to staff shortages, but there are so many restaurants in Bath to choose from this was not a problem. Over all, excellent. Would most definitely return.

The hotel had great ambiance, was stylishly decorated and spacious with a high ceiling. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcomed. My husband and I had breakfast, dinner and drinks downstairs at the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the dishes (I especially loved the lamb belly and sourdough with whipped feta). Perfect for couples who need a good feed and a little getaway in Bath. 10/10

The bed was so comfortable. My room very quiet overnight, had a great sleep. This is a traditional English hotel so don't expect fancy charger sockets or mod cons and the water takes a while to heat up in the shower but you always get fantastic reception service and friendly staff and you cannot beat the location for being in the centre of Bath. Parking is a bonus at £12 for 24 hours but need to book ahead as it is limited.

Really nice rooms, comfortable beds, large bathrooms, and incredible breakfast and coffee. We stayed during an unseasonably hot week in summer and the rooms were quite warm and didn’t cool down. They did have fans but some were broken or not hooked up correctly (no water tank hooked to the portable unit) which made sleeping tough. Overall, nice hotel with friendly staff and wonderful food. The heat was the only downside.
