The staff were very friendly. The bed was very uncomfortable and we asked if they could do something about it. The next day they changed the mattress for a new one which was perfect.

I made a mix up whilst booking, the owner of the hotel telephoned me in person the next day to reassure me dates could be changed and not to panic. She even very kindly threw in a room upgrade. The Customer Service was excellent and the hotel and location were fab too, as was the big breakfast!

Staff members were very warm; professional and efficient, yet unhurried. The overall ambience was understated and relaxed. Many locals frequent the restaurant at the weekend; always a strong endorsement. Having booked online, the hotel rang me directly shortly afterwards to ask if I would care to make any dinner reservations to avoid disappointment, and to confirm they were able to fulfill a special request. Oh... did love the line in bathroom toiletries, such that I will be ordering some for home!

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.
Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.
This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.
Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.
Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

Good Things:
Staff were very nice and helpful.
Location was great, close to lots of places.
Bad Things:
No slippers in room even though I asked for them.
Breakfast was not good, not enough food.
Bathroom and toilet were too small
The staff were really friendly, but there were some problems too. I asked for slippers but never got them. The breakfast did not have much choice. And the bathroom felt cramped because it was so tiny.
The location was convenient at least, making it easy to walk around. Overall an okay stay, but could have been better if the issues with amenities were fixed

Lincoln is a good place to visit with a lot of history to look around. The cathedral area is walkable from the newer centre albeit up Steep Hill which as it's name suggests is tiring but worth it. There is a bus that goes from the bottom end of the city to the cathedral area.

Not too touristy.
Not too touristy. Must-sees are the castle and cathedral, and (if you can manage it) Steep Hill. Plenty of independent shops and restaurants, as well as all the chains on the flat part near the river. City walk (most weekends and free, with donations) really worth doing.

Love it all, from the shopping on the high street, the wonderful new Corn Exchange area and on up steep hill to the cathedral/castle quarter.
We would recommend the free walking tours, we did the Roman history one and Matt our guide was brilliant, showing us remnants of the roman walls and giving us a visual idea of how things were.
There are plenty of pubs and bars to choose from but we particularly loved the Magna Carta, which had a brilliant band playing on the night we went in.
Lincoln is brilliant and I love it!

Steep walks a plenty but you can use busses to get to the top of the hills and walk down if your not to fit
If you like wandering around ancient streets and quirky shops this is a good place to go
great location, very nice clean en-suite room. I stayed for a couple of nights over the weekend. very welcoming staff, the owner Darren was very considerate and was very helpful in efficiently getting through the contactless checkin. in my opinion this guest house is way better than the local chain hotels, has more character and is way cheaper in comparison. situated only about 15 mins walk from the city centre is an ideal location. would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again if I’m ever that way again!
The staff are pleasant and were helpful when our room wasn't cleaned (due to staff shortages). We would describe Woodcocks as a good budget hotel offering value for money. The rooms are very similar in style to the Travel Inn chain.
There is a family pub adjacent to the hotel; we didn't eat there as the menu was limited in terms of healthy vegan options.
The location is good being a 20 minute drive (traffic permitting) of Lincoln City Centre. Also, good for the A46.
The room was lovely. Carpet was lovely and fluffy, beautiful curtains. The mattress was the best I've slept on in a hotel for a while. Breakfast was lovely although I wasn't a fan of the Lincolnshire sausages but hubs soon cleared them off lol!! The manager was friendly and helpful. The hotel position is great for the castle and cathedral. Car park very close and only £9 for 24hrs. Will definitely be staying again hopefully won't leave it 7 years til our next visit.
Lovely, comfortable, clean hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff.
Our room overlooked the Brayford wharf area which is attractive both night and day.
The hotel is situated a short walk from a large number of bars, restaurants and Lincoln City Centre itself. The breakfast options and quality are absolutely top drawer, the choice is formidable. This was our third mini break here this year and it certainly won't be our last.
Beautiful period property, fabulous location and views over the Lincoln city and Cathedral and castle.
Literally a couple of minutes stroll and you are in the historic part, and 10 minutes walk, you're in the more modern, lively areas.
Can't recommend this property enough, works so well for exploring Lincoln, parked the car on the first day, and didn't use it again until we reluctantly left to come home.........
Lovely hotel in the Bailgate, perfect location a stones throw from the castle, cathedral and steep hill. Very comfortable bed, clean and tidy room beautifully decorated. I've stayed in this hotel before and will use it again, breakfast's great with a variety of choices. I frequently come to Lincoln and stay over when picking up/dropping off my daughter.
All of the staff at the hotel and restaurant were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and so was our dinner, which we had included in the room rate. There was a lovely outdoor terrace for afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks. The hotel was located in a pretty village and was only a short drive from Lincoln city centre.
Amazing terrace property. Garage parking, only 2 adults went but would easily sleep 6. Everything you need, very clean and comfortable. Much better than a hotel for a few nights. Coop near by. Walkable to town -15 mins
Museum of Lincolnshire life is across the street.
Would definitely stay again
This property is a terrific location just feet from Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant is very good. I didn’t rate it excellent because the rooms are a bit small but otherwise a very nice hotel and a good value
The staff were wonderful! The food was exceptional and the facilities were light, clean and pleasant in every respect. The hotel was a short walk to the two places I came to see: Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle. I recommend the Tower Hotel unreservedly.
Very nice hotel . Spotlessly clean . Nice staff . Decent breakfast included . Great location . Reasonably priced and have absolutely no complaints about this place and would strongly recommend . My go to hotel next time I’m in Lincoln .
Hotel closing soon for refurbishment but still very comfortable room with a view of the cathedral. Food in restaurant was exceptional, Lincolnshire Beef was melt in the mouth. Staff very attentive without being overbearing.
Really beautiful, unique hotel, exceptionally clean and well equipped in the heart of Lincolns Old Town. Fantastic facilities with a really lovely receptionist and really great value for money. Highly recommended!
As before when we stayed, the breakfast was very simple and delicious. Lovely buiding and a nice sized comfortable room. Very convenient location for the more interesting shops and cafes in Lincoln.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Availability of a parking space.
Location was the deciding factor as to where to stay, hotel was very central to Lincoln City centre.
The hotel was in a lovely location right on the canal. It was beautiful with a patio right on the water. The staff were lovely and accomodating. The food was great.
