Accommodation - great location opposite the Castle and walkable into town, fab cafe next door however there was a mix up with the rooms, bunk beds unmade and you could feel the springs in the top bunk mattress. Advertised as family room (sleeps four) but only a two seater sofa and no where else to sit. All a little grubby and could do with a deep clean. Contact Daniel was polite and helpful.

Southwell, has a lot of history that is linked to the Minster. Although Southwell isn't that big, there's shop's & passage ways to explore that lead you around the back of Southwell. A reasonable network of footpaths for local walks, by the river, down to the National Trust property just outside the town & into the countryside its self.
It's worth checking the what's on page's, as the Minster does hold events.

Southwell is gorgeous and the cathedral and wider grounds and ruins are stunning. The Minster is an ancient building from 11th century with lots of history, and most people don’t know about it. Lovely small town with a market and coffee shops and deli’s. There are lovely walks locally along the Trent too.

Beautiful place with lots to see and do, including the fabulous Minster and the fascinating workhouse. Decent place to stay is the Saracen's Head with lots of history, dating back to 1100 - Charles 1st stayed there. Great breakfast and fabulous grandfather clocks.

Architecturally very interesting, well preserved small town with large red brick Georgian "Prebend" houses around Southwell Minster with its spectacular stone and wooden (pew end) carvings. Southwell Workhouse (Nat Trust) within walking distance of town centre and well worth visiting. Note - town has very limited options for eat-in evening dining.

A quirky,friendly vibe.
A quirky, friendly vibe. Very interesting to explore-many pubs and a great urban footpath network. Enjoyed the local market and the Minster was brilliant, especially the setting/trees, A good base for The Dukeries,Nottingham and Industrial Archaeology. Is 70 "young"?
Absolutely loved the style and decor. The hot tub was amazing and even had built in speakers and the rooftop terrace was unlike anywhere I'd ever stayed before. The rooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. Super convenient for southwell and plenty of parking. Loads of space to chill out and huge televisions both indoors and on roof terrace were an added bonus.
Spacious kitchen area. Bright, high-gabled living area. Very central. Spacious living room.
Easy to get to via train and frequent bus from Nottingham.
Plenty of information on walks etc. at accommodation. We went to the Workhouse, National Trust property within easy walking distance. Very interesting place. Do take the guided tour if you can at 12.30 each day. Very informative.
Great location right in the centre of Southwell and although no parking on site the public car park is very reasonable and only 1 minute walk away. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.
Despite Booking.com messing up the booking, the reception staff were excellent in resolving the issue.
Noise from traffic. Noise from, possibly a pump, near our room going on and off all night. As we couldn't get back to sleep decided to watch TV but it wasn't working.
The fact that the hotel advertised 'lovely cuisine in our restaurant' which happened to be closed so ended up with pizza across the road.
Character of property. Good size room with wardrobe and walk in shower. Comfy bed and nice clean linen. Breakfast also very good and lovely location. Staff helpful and friendly. Love all the clocks. The owner allowed us to check in earlier to get changed for a wedding in local area. Would stay again!
For our party of four adults the Stables was an ideal for base for a trip to Southwell, Pubs, restaurants and all amenities in easy walking distance. The property was very clean and the host checked in on us to make sure everything was satisfactory. Thanks Becky.
The service from Debbie at reception was great, from checkin through all our stay she gave us great support with few things we needed. Very friendly and willing to help very kindly. Nice historic hotel, rooms where nice, clean and warm.
Southwell is delightful with an amazing Minster 👍 only steps from the Crown. Checkin was fast easy and friendly! Getting in and out of the hotel quietly was also very easy. Staff were very friendly!
the property was very clean and a comfortable place to stay, we stay in Southwell approximately once a month as our daughter is at the uni there. we will definitely stay again if it is available
Great location close to the centre of Southwell. Very well equipped and comfortable for a short stay.
Excellent host (Ema) who kindly took us to Norwood Park, just over a mile away.
The cottage was beautiful and well placed for Southwell. The bedrooms were a good size .the heating was good except in the loumge which never seemed to get warm.
