Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps, Innsbruck is not only a world-class European ski resort, it’s also the former seat of Maximilian
I’s Holy Roman Empire.
This imperial legacy has left its mark, most notably in the Old Town where beautiful Rococo buildings sit alongside pastel facades and typically Tyrolean, flower-adorned windows. The visitable Hofburg imperial court owes its modern appearance to 18th-century Empress Maria Theresia.
The Hofkirche contains a memorial tomb for Maximilian I, and his life is depicted in frescoes on the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) nearby, named after the gleaming, copper tiles lining its entrance.
Flying into Innsbruck Airport, it’s easy to see why the city was so highly regarded. Practically every street ends with a view of the Alps, lush in summer, snowy white in winter. Nestled on a slope is Schloss Ambras, ex-residence of Archduke Ferdinand II, while the surroundings provide summer mountaineering, hiking and golf.
In winter of course it’s all about the fantastic Innsbruck skiing and snowboarding. Ski areas include Nordkette mountain, accessed by cable car and chairlifts near the town’s hotels and B&Bs on Booking.com. Its varied pistes means that several international competitions are held here, as well as the Bergiselschanze ski jump contest. The après-ski is laidback and centred around chalet-style bars and traditional restaurants.
Innsbruck is stunning! It's much smaller than Vienna and smaller than Salzburg, but bigger than some of the villages we visited. Even so, it was one of our favorite stops because of the gorgeous historic district, the river, the history, the people, and the beautiful mountain surroundings. If you've never been, you need to go!

Highly recommend getting out into nature as much as possible...
Highly recommend getting out into nature as much as possible, there are some amazing hikes in the area for all skill-levels. The surrounding wilderness is genuinely breath-taking. I recommend the Natterer-see trail for anyone with a basic fitness level. The attached photos are from our hike. One bit of general advice for anyone planning to visit; most supermarkets close around 7pm so bring food with you if you're planning on arriving late.

Innsbruck is beautiful and a must see!
Innsbruck is beautiful and a must see! Ideal to walk around as it's not too big and there are many beautiful things to see and do.
So close to the mountains so skiing or hiking is a must.
Great places to eat as a variety of choice-great little pizza place called Farina which as an Italian, I can highly rate!
There is also Skifskeller which is fantastic for local cuisine! Great food and great atmosphere!
I would highly recommend the Innsbruck card, it was absolutely fantastic and saved us SO much money as so much is included.
Would definitely return to Innsbruck! :)

Innsbruck has a wonderful location: a charming, not so large city in the midst of spectacular mountains. The Hofburg palace is interesting, is nicely located in the midst of the city and adjacent to a wonderful imperial garden with beautiful old trees. The other main palace, Ambras, is also interesting. It is located outside the city, well reachable by public transportation and surrounded by a great, hilly garden. The picture galeries and ancient furnitures of these palaces do not reach the quality of the top European castles, but are historically interesting.
Public transportation is excellent. The city is very lively, quite touristy, but also casual, a good mix of local people and visitors. Nice cafes along the river and the main streets in the city center. We ejoyed the food of Il Convento and the Trattoria de due Sicilie. Reservations necessary!

Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in.
Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in. It has a huge variety of restaurants, and great shopping if that's what you are in to.
Public transport is excellent, and you can base yourself in the city and buy a pass that is valid for a number of city sites, the public buses, and 13 ski resorts which can be easily reached by bus.
There is a funicular railway up to Nordketter, Innsbruck's own ski area.
There is a very easy student/university vibe to the city at night: highly recommended
Loved everything about this hotel. The room was gigantic, the bed was comfy and so were the pillows. The lighting is really lovely, just like the photos show. The views are great, overlooking the mountains. The breakfast is amazing and so is the staff. It's located within walking distance from the main station and the city centre. They also gave us a Welcome card which gave us free access to public transport and 20% off cable car journeys!
We're staying here again next time we're in Innsbruck for sure!
Despite the position is not at the very city centre, you can reach easily on walk/bike distance every spot that deserves to be seen!
All the staff has been gentle and ready to answer our demands, they’ve been very kind and they let us store the bikes overnight in a special room inside the hotel.
Breakfast was rich and products were really good. We decided to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and was very good at fair price…we would choose Dollinger again for future stays in Innsbruck!!
It was a short 20 minutes from the airport on the F bus. A great location, only a 10/15 walk away from old town and just across the way from the train station.
We arrived early so we thought we'd drop our bags off but they let us check in early which was great.
The hotel was clean, fresh and furnished fantastically.
If you like cocktails then the bar on the 13th floor was the place to be. The view was beautiful and the mojito was the best I've ever had!
This property is in the perfect location for the old town and is an absolutely beautiful building! Only a 15 minute easy walk from the train station. Our room overlooked the old town street and the staff were so friendly and accommodating! It would be hard to find a better place to stay in old town Innsbruck! We would definitely stay at this hotel, if and when we come back to Innsbruck! only a 15 minute easy walk from the train station.
Charming hotel in central Innsbruck located between the train station (5 minute walk) and old town / shopping streets (10 minute walk). Nice and big rooms, with the junior suite with a separate day area being exceptionally good value for money. Helpful staff. One of the best choices in Innsbruck. Also the hotel while now modern is actually over a hundred years old and the atmosphere is still there, so it’s a very nice and cozy place.
Nice hotel not far away from the city Centre - a short 15 min stroll along the Inn river.
The hotel is situated at 10 min bus ride from the Innsbruck train station - 6 stops if I`m not mistaken, away from the City Centre noise.
Clean spacious room, nice beds, clean bathroom, good breakfast with lots of variety, good value for money.
I would definetely return to this hotel when I will be back in Innsbruck.
Christine, the owner/manager, is super efficient and client-oriented; she made sure that our special requests were immediately attended to. Her recommended list of restaurants is on target! The hotel location is a pleasant 6-7 minutes walk to the Old Town, as well as to the Congress Station, where one can take the Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen to see the Top of Innsbruck.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Made us fell welcome and glad we were there.
Place is within easy walking of the Old Town, but far enough out to be quiet.
Hotel is built into the mountain and faces the Inn River. Our room was directly up from the road, yet still quiet.
No markets near by, so get anything you need while out.
Chef was very good and her food especially homemade soup great. Hotel family owned and run.
Staff very friendly, Mia the waitress/ barmaid perhaps manager was exceptional and made our stay. The views from our room were really good when the weather was good. The local tram was great and took us in to Innsbruck city very cheaply.
The hotel location is perfect if you want to explore Innsbruck as it's located in the old town and also very easy to reach from the central train station (just 5 min walk).
The rooms were cozy and nice. Also, the reception guys were very supportive and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel if you plan your trip to Innsbruck.
The hotel is very nice. The room was quite small, expected a bit bigger compare the price. The location was great, few minutes from the city center and old town, restaurants, bars. The breakfast was amazing, a huge choice. It was a bit noisy from outside, because it is on the busy street, but nothing too bad.
Great location if you want to be in Innsbruck old town, it's just across the river and you get an amazing view of the old houses. Clean and comfortable, and good for big groups! The staff responds quickly to inquiries via the Booking.com messaging app.
Beautiful and modern hotel! Very clean and super good location, in the center of the old town, very easy to walk around enjoy beatiful Innsbruck! Super friendly staffs, very happy and really enjoy our stay in Innsbruck! Highly recommended!
Excellent location, 10 mins walk from the train station, 10 minutes walk from the old town. Hotel staff and facilities were excellent. First time I've had wine from a vending machine (cheaper than the "honestly bar").
Great staff, very friendly and the food was great. Location was perfect, just 15 minutes train ride to Old Town Innsbruck. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Innsbruck area.
The location of the hotel is the best. Between the central station and old town. Room was good. The receptionist was very cute, I almost fell in love with her 😆
Very close to the Old Town, modern and clean room, very friendly staff, cheap and good breakfast available at the cafe next door (which is part of the hotel)
