Mike at reception and Caroline at breakfast were simply amazing and made me feel incredibly welcome. Please ensure that they recieve my sincere thanks for their warm welcome and amazing service! Mike knew i had to get up and out early to catch the ferry, so breakfast would need to be fast, he relayed this onto Caroline who prioritised me and this kind of service is what makes a hotel stand out from the rest! Thank you very much Mike and Caroline.
The breakfast was very tasty, i wished i had more time to enjoy it, so please thank the chef too.

We arrived on a wet cold November afternoon. The heating was on. It is a lovely, clean, high spec property. We stayed in one evening because the living room was so nice.

There is a range of attractions to suit all tastes.
There is a range of attractions to suit all tastes. If you like history, there are self guided audio trails, museums devoted to the naval history and military signficance of the napoleonic and first and second world war. I came for the photographic opportunities, with massive container ships, sailing boats and the potential for glorious sunrises over the ocean. It does look a bit run down in places and I was a bit apprehensive, but everyone was very friendly, and I would sum it up as an unspoilt gem, from an earlier, more relaxed era.

Some lovely old buildings surrounded by industrial complexes. Every horizon you can’t avoid the super tank loading cranes and other industries.
If your a real ale fan, unfortunately there is very little. The Hanover burnt down so the owners opened a pop up beer shop near by. It was the only decent pint I could find. The Alma bar and rooms had an excellent atmosphere and food, but the beer is dreadful and expensive.

I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely Harwich was, there was lots of history in the old town and pretty little streets. There was not much in the way of restaurants or coffee shops but what was there was good. I ate at the Alma Inn.

During the summer months Harwich has a great deal to offer as it is by the sea, near a lovely beach which stretches to Dovercourt, and has a long maritime history. It has a new museum, upgraded cafes and park.

I had no idea until we spent some time there yesterday what an interesting and historic place Harwich is. Was particularly moved by the sculpture of the "kindertransport" children by the halfpenny pier (Jewish children sent by their parents from the NL to the UK to save them from the concentration camps). Would like to explore further.
Property is exactly as pictured and very clean and cozy. Absolutely love the hotel-quality bedding and towels, made the stay feel so luxurious and great value for money. Although located at the port where there might not be as many activities, it is reasonably close to many attractions like Clacton Pier and Essex. Everyone in my family kept saying they would miss the place once we left and honestly we do! The games available also made the nights we spent more fun for us! Would love to stay again! Definitely highly recommend it!
The house was beautifully decorated with some lovely period features, extremely clean & very well-appointed. It was also very well positioned, being just yards from the seafront and the rest of historic Harwich. Thanks must go to our host, who was extremely accommodating, even going as far as to ask how we wanted the bedrooms making up!
The staff was excellent and very friendly
We used the family room on top of the pub - it was surprisingly very quiet thanks to excellent sound-proofing - it was nicely decorated
The bathroom was clean and very big, but we had to go through the corridor to access it
The breakfast was very good
The location in Harwich was great
Nice venue, ideal when You arrive by ferry in the evening or must catch the same next morning. The port is only 10 minutes away from the hotel. Parking is free on the opposite side of the street, a little grocery store (open till 11 pm if I remember correctly) next door. Breakfast not included.
Because of the early leave of the ferry, we had the opportunity for an extra early breakfast. Which was really nice. Breakfast was good.
The room was beautiful with great details en everything was available to make you feel at home.
Jayne was a very nice lady and made us feel very welcome.
Our pod was lovely and really comfortable. Great staff - very helpful when we couldn't see how to turn the heating on. We'd gone for the Harwich shanty festival and it was quite a walk to Harwich but locally there were some lovely places to walk the dog and drink coffee.
This was my third visit to the Pier, which is one of my favourite hotels. It's in prime position in historic Harwich, with beautiful and dramatic views, the rooms are very comfortable, with complimentary soft drinks in the rooms, and the food and service are excellent.
My stay at Driftwood cottage was excellent, great location and the old town of harwich was so historic. Lot's of lovely old pubs that all offer great food. The cottage was so cosy and we had the best sleep, would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.
It was such a cool old inn. Like stepping back into the 19th century but with all the modern conveniences. The food in the dining room was excellent both breakfast and dinner. The location was close to everything and easy access by taxi to the port.
The walk to the ferry port is ten minutes, which makes this hotel the top choice for anyone taking the ferry to the Netherlands without a car. The facilities are basic, but functional and clean. And the price cannot be beat.
Beautifully decorated, immaculately clean house within minutes by car to Harwich port (very convenient). Hostess very welcoming and considerate of our needs.. We thoroughly recommend this B and B.
Hotel staff were all welcoming rooms were very clean and modern. There was a lot of choice in the restaurant and the food was amazing. Would definitely visit again.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Good value. This is a hotel above a pub, but it was not busy the night were were there. Breakfast in the pub was good.
